Fun Things to do

Charlotte Harbor rivals the Everglades for undeveloped, waterfront scenery. The ride to Boca Grande and Englewood Beach and along Burnt Store Marina Road south of Punta Gorda and Route 31 provide especially pastoral settings.

Food, entertainment, kayak and canoe rentals can be found at Snook Haven or cruise the Peace River on a pontoon boat at the Nav-a-Gator Grill. After your ride, check out the fossil museum and grab a great grouper sandwich while listening to island sounds at their friendly tiki bar.

For ocean excursions, try Boca Boat Cruises, then shop in Boca Grande or rent a bike and explore the quaint neighborhoods of the island.

The quaint little town of Punta Gorda is the first in the state to offer a “Free Bicycle Loaner Program“.  Show up at one of several locations, show your ID and credit card and set off on your adventure FREE of charge!

Catch a game at Charlotte Sports Park.  The Charlotte Stone Crabs are a minor league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Explore lovely paths and trails at the Ponce DeLeon Park and beach then head to the Peace River Wildlife Center to learn more about our native birds and small mammals.

Babcock Wilderness Adventures – Take a 2 hour swamp buggy ride through 90,000 acres of pinewood forests, marshes and wetlands of Telegraph Swamp.  Alligators, panthers, cougars, deer and wild boar are often sighted as well as eagles, hawks, egrets, wild turkeys, herons and sandhill cranes.
