Most Manasota residents prefer their little paradise to remain commercial FREE and that means no grocery stores, strip malls or gas stations. Yes, there are only three restaurants at the island’s south end including a beach shop and two real estate companies!
If you have the urge to splurge and want to stroll a quaint little town brimming with resort wear, souvenirs and eateries, the Island of Venice is due north on US 41.
Most of the 100+ boutiques, specialty shops and cafes along Venice & Miami Avenues remain open after hours on the third Thursday of every month with live music for your shopping pleasure.
For bargains on brand name items, head south on I-75 to Fort Myer’s Tanger Outlet Mall featuring 40 stores that include Bass, Timberland, Ralph Lauren, Old Navy and more. There’s also a nature center and playground for kids to unwind during a shopping break. There are no eateries at Tanger Outlet Center, so make sure you check for restaurants along the way or pack a lunch if you think you’ll need it. Located at the intersection of John Morris Road and McGregor Road, Fort Myers.
